The St. Luke's Mid America Heart Institute was one of 117 sites participating in the recently reported pivotal CREST trial comparison of stenting and CEA. This trial was more than 10 yrs in the making and showed equivalence between carotid stenting and CEA. We were the only hospital in the Kansas City metro to be chosen as a trial site based on carotid stenting and surgical experience/outcomes and one of only two hospitals in MO.
